A Message from Craig & Val L'Esperance
The Way I See It

Well, it’s with a heavy heart (and a slightly panicked sweat on our brows) that we bid farewell to our incredible long-time production specialist, Aili. After years of legendary problem-solving and turning every crisis into a casual Tuesday, she's gotten married and fled the Keweenaw.

So now, we’re on the hunt for someone who’s ready to fill some very big shoes—preferably someone who knows how to adult, isn't allergic to multi-tasking, and can laugh at bad jokes. If you think you’ve got the magic, we’d love to meet you! Please send us an email office@designotype.com to inquire further.

April brings the promise of renewal. The days grow longer, flowers bloom, and the world seems to wake up. It’s a time of year that reminds us that change is not only possible but necessary.

In business, just as in nature, embracing change keeps us moving forward. Whether it’s refreshing marketing materials, improving services, or finding new ways to connect with customers, April is the perfect time to shake off the old and welcome the new.

Here’s the way I see it: Spring cleaning isn’t just for closets—it’s for ideas, too! Take a moment to reflect on what’s working, what isn’t, and what new opportunities lie ahead. Sometimes, a fresh perspective is all we need to turn challenges into possibilities.

Designing Memorable Experiences
ENHANCING EXPERIENCES WITH PRINT MARKETING

In today's experience-driven economy, delivering memorable interactions is essential for success. Understanding and implementing a structured framework for experience design can set you apart and elevate your print marketing to new heights.

Intro to Experience Design

Effective experience design goes beyond superficial encounters. It's about creating moments that resonate personally, providing users with fulfillment and satisfaction.

Memory plays a vital role in how experiences are perceived and valued. Consider the emotions, thoughts, and actions you want your audience to recall when considering their interaction with your brand. By focusing on the user's perspective, you can craft experiences that are not only memorable but also meaningful.

Enhancing Experiences with Print Marketing

Understanding different types of experiences and how people engage with them is essential to designing impactful experiences. Each type engages users uniquely and appeals to different aspects of their personalities and preferences.

Educational Experiences

Design print materials that educate your audience through informative brochures, detailed product guides, or insightful infographics. Providing valuable knowledge positions you as an expert and builds customer trust.

Entertainment Experiences

Engage your audience by incorporating entertaining elements in your print marketing. Interactive elements like puzzles, comics, or gamified content create a positive association with your brand and encourage repeat engagement.

Aesthetic Experiences

Focus on the visual appeal of your print materials. High-quality images, thoughtful design, and visually pleasing layouts can create an aesthetic experience that captivates your audience. The beauty of your print materials should reflect the quality of your products or services.

Escapist Experiences

Create print materials that offer a brief escape from the everyday. Immersive storytelling, captivating visuals, or inspiring content that transports your audience to a different place or mindset provides a welcome distraction and creates a deeper emotional connection with your brand.

Using the Touchpoint Template

To effectively apply these concepts, utilize the Touchpoint Template. This tool helps map your audience's interaction with your print materials, ensuring a cohesive and engaging experience.

  • Identify Touchpoints: List where your audience interacts with your print materials.
  • Categorize Experiences: Determine which experience type each touchpoint will deliver.
  • Design with Intent: Create experiences with intentionality, focusing on personal engagement.
  • Evaluate and Iterate: Gather feedback to refine and improve future experiences.

By leveraging the Touchpoint Template, you can ensure that every piece of print material is part of a well-orchestrated experience, enhancing engagement and leaving a lasting impression on your audience.

Moving Forward with Confidence

Understanding and applying a framework for experience design can transform your print marketing efforts. By focusing on different experience types and how they engage your audience, you can create memorable and impactful interactions.

Restore Old Versions of Word Documents
NEED TO RECOVER AN OLDER VERSION OF A WORD FILE?

Have you ever made edits to a Microsoft Word document only to realize later that you need an earlier version? Don't worry—you may still be able to recover it!

Here’s how to restore a previous version of your Word document:

1. Check Version History (Microsoft 365 & OneDrive Users)

Open the document. Click File > Info > Version History (or Review > Version History in some versions). Choose an earlier version and click Restore.

2. Recover Unsaved Documents

Open Word and go to File > Info > Manage Document > Recover Unsaved Documents. If your document is there, save it immediately!

3. Check Backups (Windows Users Only)

Go to File Explorer and search for ".wbk" files in your Word directory. If backups are enabled, Word may have saved an older copy.

Do you need help creating print-ready documents? Our team is happy to assist with formatting, layout, and file preparation!
